Sports field and oval lighting for clubs and councils

We light community ovals, multi-use fields, netball and tennis courts, training grounds and local stadiums. Broadcast venues have extra requirements, so flag it early and we can talk through what we can cover.

Existing poles can be reused when they're sound. New poles and footings are scoped when the brief needs them.

AFL, cricket and football ground lighting

Each sport needs light in a different place. AFL and cricket ovals are big and round, so the poles go around the boundary and the light has to reach the centre square evenly. Football, rugby and soccer fields are usually lit from poles along each sideline. Tennis, netball and multi-use courts need lower poles and tighter beam control. We lay out the poles and fittings to suit the sport, the field size and the level of play.

AS 2560: sports lighting levels

AS 2560 is the sports lighting standard most clubs and councils call up in a brief or tender. The light level depends on the level of play: training, competition and televised venues all differ. If your council or association documents already name a class, we design to that, or to your own brief.

Even light matters as much as the average level, so aiming and uniformity are part of every design and quote.

AS/NZS 4282: spill and neighbours

AS/NZS 4282 covers spill, glare and other obtrusive effects of outdoor lighting. If your council brief or DA mentions spill limits, curfews or neighbour concerns, put it in your email and we'll design around it from the start.

Supply only, or supply and install

• Supply only: we design and supply, and your electrician or contractor installs. Handy when a club or council already has labour booked.
• Supply and install: we do the lot. We do the DALI programming and commissioning ourselves and work with licensed electricians on site.

Say which you want when you enquire. If a council, school or corporate brief asks for Indigenous supplier participation, we're Supply Nation Certified, so mention it in your email.

Do you do sports ground and stadium lighting in Australia?

Do you design to AS 2560?

Yes, to AS 2560 for your sport and level of play, or to your own brief, with aiming and uniformity included in the quote. If your tender or council documents already name a class, we'll work to it.

What about spill and neighbours (AS/NZS 4282)?

Spill limits, curfews and DA conditions are designed in from the start, through pole positions, optics and aiming.

Can you supply only, or do you install as well?

Both. We handle the DALI programming and commissioning, and licensed electricians do the on-site work.

Do you need new poles, or can you use existing ones?
